Every time we’d pass a Dunkin’ Donuts when traveling as kids, my sister and I would beg our parents to pull in and get a box of Munchkins. We’d get an assortment—chocolate, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, and glazed Munchkins. The cake-like consistency was different from most donut holes, and they came in a box with a little handle.
We had grandparents in Baton Rouge and in Kansas, and both had Dunkin’ Donuts nearby.
While the company has been going by an abbreviated moniker for the last eight years, it’s still hard for me to just say Dunkin’ without adding Donuts to the end!
The change was an effort to highlight the brand’s coffee and beverage products, then accounting for 60% of total sales. That number has only increased as the beverage menu expanded.
But I didn’t care about coffee—hot or iced. I just wanted the donuts I’d grown up with when I visited the new Dunkin’ at the Pineville Walmart.
Ordering a box of my beloved Munchkins, I was so excited when I grabbed that little handle, feeling like I was ten years old again. They had new flavors including blueberry and pumpkin.
When I told my daughter Kelsey I’d be writing about the new Dunkin’, she was excited to learn we had gotten one. She loves her coffee. I decided to pick up an iced coffee with vanilla cold foam and bring it to her at work.
Dunkin’ currently has a full array of drinks, including hot and cold coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, iced refreshers, frozen drinks, lemonade, and specialty tea. They have a display case of donuts, and in about a month, they will roll out hot food like maple sugar breakfast croissants and avocado toast. I can’t wait to try their stuffed everything mini bagels.
Located inside the Kingsville Walmart on the Monroe Highway in Pineville, you can order your food and drinks to go. Mobile ordering and delivery are available as well.
