Brought To You By 318Central.com ... Submitted By Our Friend, Cathy Humphrey
A very dear, longtime, Texas friend of ours was recently making her magic in the kitchen, and mentioned what she’d be having for dinner. After having seen her recipe for this delectable delight, I asked her if we could use it for our July Recipe of the Month. Some photos came over and, honestly, I could smell the enchanting aroma of this dish. So, here it is for you! Please be sure to awe and amaze your family and friends. This will become a favorite!
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 Cup Chopped Onion
2 Cloves Garlic Minces
3 14.5 oz. Diced Tomatoes
1 6 oz. can Tomato Paste
¼ Snipped Parsley (Flaked will work but use less)
1 Tb. Brown Sugar
1 ½ tsp. Ground Oregano
1 tsp. Salt
1 Bay Leaf
¼ tsp. Dried Thyme, Crushed
• In a large saucepan combine Meat, Onion, and Garlic. Brown lightly and drain off excess fat.
• Add 2 cups of water and remaining ingredients.
• Simmer uncovered (I use spatter screen as it’s prone to bubble and pop) for 3 hours or until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
• Remove Bay Leaf
• Serve over Pasta!!!!
~ It can be done in an electric skillet stirring occasionally
~ Or use a crock pot if you are busy person, and it cooks well that way, slowly all day.
~ Add more water if cooking faster due to the type of pot you use. Trust your judgment.
~ It freezes well!! I usually double or triple recipe so I can freeze for later.
