I met Gina Ferrara, the current Louisiana poet laureate, at a Cavanaugh Lecture Series put on the by LSUA College of Liberal Arts back on April 28, 2026. She comes from a long list of poet laureates. Louisiana created the poet laureate position back in 1942.
