Press Release
Local literary group the Bad Gnus Poets have released a new book. This collection of selected poems is the first for this group which includes work from all four members: David Atwood, James Harmon Clinton, Beverly Easterling, and Shelley Jinks Johnson. The group is a recognizable staple at coffee shop Tamp & Grind in downtown Alexandria and has been meeting twice a month for the past 5 years. They take their writing and critiquing responsibilities seriously, but that doesn’t stop them from laughing and enjoying themselves while they work. In addition to their bi-monthly meetings, these poets organize quarterly poetry open mic nights for the community. Spreading a love for poetry– reading, writing, and performing it– is part of their mission, a mission they hope their book will help fulfill.
Themes of these selected poems range from the beauty of falling in love to the music that defines a generation, the outrage of injustice, and the absurdity of yodeling pickles. Good for a laugh, or a cry, or when you just need to feel . . . something, these poems are for you.
Bad Gnus Poets: Breaking GNUS is available now on Amazon.
