Hey, CenLa, have you heard? The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival starts the last weekend of this month. We are blessed with our culture here in Louisiana to have so many festivals and events to enjoy. MayFest is back next month in Leesville, as is the Jazz & R&B Festival in Natchitoches, featuring Cenla’s very own, “Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs.” Now is the time to make plans for all of these events.
This is my favorite time of year when I can plant all my flowers, start the garden, and make my baskets. Fishing and playing a lot more golf are some things I look forward to. For you ladies it is definitely time to start Spring shopping and enjoying everything Spring brings.
Front Street in Natchitoches has some great specialty shops, a spa, and neat bars and restaurants. Downtown Alexandria, with the best kept secret in central Louisiana, “The Bentley Room,” is serving up brunch every Saturday and Sunday. The Mirror Room at the Bentley is the oldest bar in Central Louisiana. It was built in the early 1900s. If you’re headed to Marksville/Avoyelles Parish for some fun, check out the, “Broken Wheel Brewery.” I promise you will love it. While you’re there, run over to Juno’s and get some Cracklin‘s. So much to do in Central Louisiana.
Remember to always SHOP LOCAL and support all of our museums, zoos, golf courses, local artists, and musicians.
Until next time, give somebody a big hug and spread a little love, Dief
