The Sundown Band is put together with four seasoned musicians from Central Louisiana … Dana “Juba” Normand on rhythm & lead guitar, saxophone, harmonica & vocals, Mike Barrett on bass & vocals, Sean Rachal on drums & vocals, Gerald Mitchell on lead guitar & vocals. With decades of combined experience Juba, Mike, Sean & Gerald have been fixtures in the Louisiana music scene since the early 1980’s, each having played in numerous bands and occasionally working together at times over the years. They play Classic Rock, Rock, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Dance, Funk, Swamp Pop and more. They cater to ages 21 & up and provide music and enjoyment for any and all occasions. “The Party starts at Sundown.”
Dana “Juba” Normand Juba played saxophone throughout middle and high school. He started playing guitar and singing in high school. He performed in several bands and had a successful novelty hit called, “The Cajun Rap Song“ during his years with the band, Cypress City. Juba ‘s musical influences Include blues, rock, country, folk. His love for the Blues and Blues Rock, along with his influences, can be heard and felt in his performances. Juba has opened for some of the great music legends such as Rockin’ Dopsie, Clarence Carter, Dr. Hook and Jerry Lee Lewis. He had also performed with Louisiana legendary artists Tommy McClain, Johnny Allen , Warren Storm, Ace Cannon and Leon Medica, to name a few.
Mike Barrett has been a Bass Player and Singer Songwriter for over three decades. His genres include Rhythm & Blues, Country, Rock, Funk, Heavy Metal, Soul and Gospel. He’s performed with various artists such as Percy Sledge, The Platters, The Coasters, Delbert McClinton and Tommy McClain, as well as local artists such as G.G. Shinn, Avery Micheals and Charlie Rivers, to name a few …
Gerald Mitchell has been playing Guitar since the age 15. He’s a Singer Songwriter and Producer, as well. Genres include, Heavy Metal, Rock, Classic Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Country and Gospel. He has played in multiple bands throughout the years. He has opened for George Jones, Kentucky Head Hunters, Restless Heart and Jo-el Sonnier.
Sean Rachal has been a Drummer and Vocalist for 37 years in the local music scene. He has played with a variety of local bands. His Genres include Rock & Roll, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Swamp Pop, Funk & Gospel. He worked with Louisiana Music Hall of Famers such as Pat Strazza, Ace Cannon and Rockin’ Sydney, as well as Say Please, an 80’s Rock Band out of San Antonio, Texas.
