SHARE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE WITH THE RAPIDES PARISH LIBRARY

Brought To You By Your Rapides Parish Library

What if everyone practiced an “Attitude of Gratitude” this November? When people practice gratitude within a community, they foster a stronger sense of connection, encourage behavior like helping others, increase positive interactions, and motivate other individuals to contribute to the well-being of the community; essentially, a few motivated people can create a community that actively looks for ways to give back and support one another.

At the Rapides Parish Library, our mission is supporting our communities, and we think it’s possible to spread our Attitude of Gratitude to others so that they do the same by simply taking a moment to find something to be thankful for and sharing it. Research demonstrates that gratitude enhances moods, decreases stress, improves physical and psychological health, improves sleep and even enhances your self-esteem. By encouraging everyone to pause and give thanks, RPL hopes to create a healthier, happier, more unified community.

All November, the Rapides Parish Library is encouraging people to participate in our ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ campaign, created to inspire residents to adopt a grateful spirit and uplift others in word and deed. The campaign will include a video contest online, activities in all library branches, and daily social media posts on the Rapides Parish Library’s Facebook and Instagram pages, highlighting moments of gratitude in our community.

Residents are encouraged to pick up a free yard sign from any Rapides Parish Library branch and write what they are grateful for to display at their home or business. Library staff members will also be distributing stickers on which you can write then proudly wear your attitude of gratitude. Stickers are available by request to businesses, schools and teachers to create their own Attitudes of Gratitude programs.

To enter the “Attitude of Gratitude” Video Contest, residents will post up to a one minute clip on their own Instagram or Facebook detailing what they are grateful for, tag @RapidesLibrary and use the hashtags #AttitudeofGratitude and #RPL. All appropriately created and tagged videos will be shared to RPL’s social media. The top three most engaging posts will win prizes provided by the Friends of the Rapides Library.
