The Rapides Parish School Board in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, Walmart, Modern Woodmen, Petron, RLC Trucking and other local vendors, hosted a Thanksgiving Outreach Project, providing Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of families in need.
On November 23 at the Rapides Coliseum, families lined up to receive a frozen turkey and all of the trimmings. This event was a resounding success thanks to the support of our partners, including the State Fire Marshal and the Alexandria Fire Department. JROTC cadets from Alexandria Senior High, Bolton Academy, and Peabody Magnet High School also lent their time and energy, showcasing their community support.
This effort underscores the strong community bonds in Rapides Parish. Events like these reflect the power of partnerships and the impact we can make when schools, businesses, and organizations unite to serve those in need.
Schools and student volunteer organizations provided the trimmings, and teams from various schools stuffed the bags and loaded them onto trucks.
This endeavor involved many entities, and RPSB extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this incredible initiative. Projects like these help make a difference in the lives of Cenla families, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside our community partners to make a positive impact.
