The Rapides Parish Library proudly announces a brand-new offering for the Rapides Parish community. Telehealth kiosks are now available at five library locations in Glenmora, Hineston, Lecompte, Boyce, and Tioga with three additional locations in Libuse, Pineville, and Alexandria planned before the end of the year. These kiosks offer individuals who have scheduled telehealth appointments with their providers the opportunity to connect and conduct their appointments at their local library. The mobile kiosks are available thanks to a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation and the support of the Friends of the Rapides Library.
Library patrons who wish to use the telehealth kiosks for their scheduled appointments with their telehealth providers may call their desired branch to reserve the kiosk or stop by any branch to see about availability. The kiosk will be checked out to the patron for in-house usage and rolled to a study or meeting room location. From there, the patron may use the provided equipment to conduct their appointment. White noise and view blocking equipment are part of the kiosks as well to increase privacy. Sanitizing wipes as well as hand sanitizers are available with the kiosk so that individuals may perform a wipe down of surfaces prior to their use. Library staff members will wipe down surfaces upon return of the kiosk.
