LSUA ANNOUNCES AGRIBUSINESS PROGRAM

by Elizabeth Jonson

Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) has launched a new Agribusiness program within the College of Business.

The official announcement was made in June by the LSUA Chancellor Dr. Paul Coreil, before a group of over 300 students at the 92nd Louisiana Future Farmers of America (FFA) State Convention held in Alexandria.

“Agribusiness is one of the largest and most diverse industries in the US economy. It includes agricultural producers and wholesalers, food manufacturers, crop and livestock support services, agricultural machinery manufacturing and scientific consultants,” said Dr. Randall Dupont, Dean of the LSUA College of Business.

Students enrolled in LSUA’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration can now earn the 24-hour concentration in Agribusiness. The new concentration will include courses in agricultural business planning and management, commodity marketing and risk management, agricultural finance, natural resource economics, and agricultural trade and policy.

“We are continuing to find ways to prepare tomorrow’s leaders today, so Louisiana remains deeply rooted in agriculture,” said Dr. Coreil.

Students can now enroll. For more information, contact the LSUA College of Business at 318.473.6414 or Dr. Dupont at rdupont@lsua.edu.
