LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER – JULY 2022

by Dan "Dief" Diefenderfer

It’s hot! I mean really hot. It seems the heat will not let up! I’m writing this in June, but I’m sure that bit of info will still stand tall in July, too. It’s time to get on or in the water with, of course, fair concern and warning for your health. Please be sure to apply lots of sunscreen, watch what time you’re out there, and please don’t stay too long …

Now, with that said, whether it’s jumping in the pool, getting your fishing gear out, dropping your boat in the water, or doing some tubing, summer is definitely FUN! We have lakes and waterways galore … like Kincaid, Cotile, Indian Creek, Spring Bayou, Toledo Bend, Nantachie … just too many to name, and they’re all waiting for your arrival.

As we celebrate the United States of America’s 246th birthday in July, Louisiana offers you lots of festivals and gatherings to commemorate the day. Just about every city in Louisiana has a fireworks display or something special for our nation’s birthday. Be sure to check them out! One of our favorites is the Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival in Marksville, they always do it right in Avoyelles … music, food, contests, fun, and more!

It’s hard to believe next month is back to school. Get a jump on everyone and visit our local businesses early. When you can, always try to buy local!

Remember to remain cool and spread a little love around!

Until next time … have a great SUMMER :).
