Brought To You By The Hotel Bentley
Greetings,
My name is Chef Matthew David Morgan. I am an alumnus of Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, as a part of Nicholls State University. I am also the residing Executive Chef of The Bentley Room Dining Restaurant.
I am here today to welcome anyone who is interested in a Sunday afternoon out and something different. Alexandria doesn’t provide many cooking activities, so it is my aim to correct that.
Once a month, we are trying to commemorate the Historic Hotel Bentley, as well as bring people together for a little cooking lesson, drinks, and most important, good food.
I enjoy cooking; scratch that, I adore cooking. It is my life. It is my passion, and to be able to provide my skills and techniques for others to enjoy and replicate. This class would be my ultimate joy, to get one on one with the public and share my culinary aspirations. I do hope to see y’all there!
This go around, we will be featuring classic French Onion Soup, done my way! I am not reinventing the wheel here; I am simply providing good technique on a simple dish. As the French call it, Onion Soup, it IS all about the onions. It is very important to brown those onions and bring out the sweetness that onions can provide, given you caramelize them down, and give them time to truly shine.
As well, the small buffet afterwards will provide tasty treats for the palate to enjoy. I hope to bring a little joy to a usually rather solemn Sunday afternoon for most! It would be my pleasure.
Cheers,
Chef Matthew David Morgan
