In preparation for the new school year, the Rapides Parish Library hosted its annual Back-to-School Supply Giveaway in July at the Main Library downtown. Five hundred children were greeted by Patrick from SpongeBob Square Pants and the Disney Princess Elsa as they picked up their school supply kits sponsored by Healthy Blue. The kits included school supply essentials like paper, pencils, scissors, folders, and much more. If you missed this event, then you will be happy to know about our Back-to- School Bash this month.
The Back-to-School Bash occurring on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at Kees Park on Hwy 28-E in Pineville is an annual event hosted by RPL. Local children may pick up school supplies sponsored by Aetna, participate in games and activities, meet supportive community organizations, and discover library resources essential to school success.
Throughout the school year, students complete a variety of educational tasks such as homework, science projects, research projects, and writing assignments. Your Rapides Parish Library offers a multitude of resources and services both virtually and inside of physical locations to assist students in completing those tasks and meeting their educational goals.
In-branch services include computers with internet access, wi-fi, printing, copying, 3D printing, reference service, laptop checkout, hotspot checkout, study rooms, ABC Mouse, and Ancestry.com Library Edition. Virtual services which may be accessed anywhere with an Internet connected device include Homework Louisiana, Louisiana Library Connection, Learning Express, Digital Archives, Newspapers, Driving Test practice, Scienceflix, Worldbook Online, and more.
