Brought To You By Rapides Parish Library
Summer is here, and while the days are getting longer, so is the list of options for education and entertainment from your Rapides Parish Library! We are celebrating summer “All Together Now” at your Rapides Parish Library. Logging minutes, attending performances, and earning prizes for the Summer Reading Program will be from June 1 until July 31, 2023.
For children, there will be reading prizes as well as an all-new prize level for a completed bingo card. The bingo cards will include reading related tasks as well as tasks to enhance your summer experience. Suggestions include trying new foods, cleaning up litter/volunteering, attending library programs, etc … Your library is embracing what we can accomplish all together now as all together awesome individuals!
For teens, there will be chances for two prizes.
One prize, a decorative photo light strip, is earned by reading at least five hours during the summer while the other is available to teens who attend five library programs (system wide). To keep track of their progress, teens will receive an All Together Now program attendance punch-card that can be punched at the end of every program that a teen attends. When all five of the spaces are punched, they can receive their prize, a limited edition RPL beanie!
Adults will also have the opportunity to read and earn entries for prize raffles at the summer’s end. At the end of summer, each branch will draw for a gift certificate to a local business of the winner’s choice.
Those prize possibilities sound great, but don’t forget that your Rapides Parish Library also has super summer entertainment. The performers will be visiting our branches during set weeks of summer. A full schedule is available by contacting your local branch. For 2023, three of our performers will be new to Rapides Parish while the fourth (Lady Chops) is a beloved veteran of summer reading:
June 12-16 — Zak Morgan (Singer/Storyteller)
June 26-30 — Reggie Harris (Musician)
July 10-14 — Lady Chops (Drummer)
July 24-28 — Morgan Tarpley (Storyteller)
No matter how you choose to spend your summer, we hope you will join in the fun at your Rapides Parish Library as we get “All Together Now!”
