WELCOME TO MURDERCON!

by Jeanni Ritchie

The Unusual Suspects did it again! They brought us a night filled with mayhem, mystery, and lots of laughter.

We gathered at Tunk’s Cypress Inn in May for dinner and someone’s diabolical plan. But whose? Who was getting killed and whodunnit?

First came the meal as the Unusual Suspects set the stage for the ComicCon that would soon turn deadly. I’d chosen the fish (we had a choice of steak or fish) and ordered the LA Style Crab Cake appetizer. It came with the Pontchartrain Sauce (crabmeat, crawfish tails, and Gulf Shrimp in a rich butter-cream sauce). I could’ve just eaten a big bowl of that sauce!

The blackened fish was divine, served over a bed of wild rice and topped with a crawfish cream sauce. I had a side of squash and zucchini which I actually ate, along with the water I drank. (I’m trying!)

But then it was time to really start paying attention. I needed to know who and how and why?

We filled out cards with our guesses as dessert was served. Beignets with berries and ice cream. Delicious!

Because they are planning on hosting another Welcome to MurderCon in July, I cannot tell you who bit the dust and who was responsible. I can tell you that I was so wrong!!

The show, written by Dan Forest, starred Forest as Dane, along with Dale dePerrodil (Chad), Kimberly Patton (Linda), Alecia Lewis (Phoebe), Danny Eudy Jr. (Ricardo), and Shelley Jinks Johnson (Tatiana).

Even one of the guests, Taylor Beddingfield, came in costume dressed beautifully as Ariana Grande. She was a shining star as well throughout the evening!

The evening ended with the cast and audience singing happy birthday to guest “Just Lana!”

Follow The Unusual Suspects on Facebook for their encore performance of Welcome to MurderCon! as well as their next show. Dan Forest knows how to write a KILLER screenplay!
