FAITH REQUIRES R.I.S.K.

By Pastor James Greer

Faith isn’t comfortable. It’s not safe. And it’s definitely not predictable. But it is powerful. Real faith will always require you to take a R.I.S.K.—to move beyond what you can control and into what God has called you to do.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God…” — Hebrews 11:6

If you want to walk in the favor and fullness of God, you’ve got to be willing to take faith-filled risks.

R – Respond to God’s Voice

When God called Abraham, He didn’t give him all the details—He simply said, “Go.”

“So Abraham departed as the Lord had instructed…” — Genesis 12:4 (NIV)

Faith starts with obedience, even before the plan is clear. You don’t need to know everything—you just need to say yes when God speaks.

I – Ignore the Fear

Fear is the #1 reason people stay stuck. But God hasn’t called us to live stuck—He’s called us to live strong.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

If you wait until you’re no longer afraid, you’ll never move. Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear—it means moving forward in spite of it.

S – Step Out in Obedience

When Jesus called Peter out of the boat, the water didn’t part. Peter had to take a step while it still looked impossible.

“Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” — Matthew 14:29 (NIV)

You don’t grow in comfort—you grow when you take faith steps that don’t make sense.

K – Keep Going When It’s Hard

Just because God called you doesn’t mean it will be easy. Faith doesn’t eliminate hardship—it empowers endurance.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Faith means trusting God when it’s hard, when it’s slow, and when it costs you something. But the reward is always worth the risk.

Final Encouragement:

God never blesses passivity—but He always honors obedience. If you want to walk in His blessing, be willing to take the risk of trusting Him fully.

Ask yourself:

• Where is God asking me to respond—even before I see the plan?

• What fear do I need to ignore to move forward?

• What step of obedience have I been delaying?

• Am I willing to keep going—even when it’s hard?

Faith doesn’t always feel safe—but it’s always worth it.
