I am an overgrown child sometimes. So it stands to reason that I like childish things- Disney movies, Barbies, Hi-Ho Cherryo.
But it is not childish at all to play in an arcade! In fact, I deem it an appropriate stress buster and great mental health tool. Shooting down spaceships in Galaga relieves pent-up frustration you didn’t even know you had. Rolling a Skee Ball forces your mind to focus on something other than that problem plaguing you. Driving a car recklessly has zero consequences on your insurance!
Revisiting childhood favorites, physically exerting energy in a fun way, and mentally calculating games is a bonafide way to relieve stress.
Whether it’s for escapism or improving cognitive function, arcade play offers a unique blend of mental stimulation, stress relief, social engagement, and pure entertainment. You reduce stress and foster social connections, among other positive benefits that contribute to overall well-being.
Go alone or bring a friend, big or small, to enjoy some arcade fun today. It’s just what the doctor ordered!
