This year, more than any other, there is excitement in the air. We are now able to celebrate everything from birthdays to barbecues and graduations to weddings. Some of us are changing careers, and others are starting careers for the first time. A common thread to all these events is they bring change into our lives. I’ve never been a fan of change, but it comes with life and is something we all have to experience from time to time.
I have experienced so many major life changes in the past month that I decided to break out some of my favorite quotes. While my life group is studying the power of words, for me, words are oxygen on a page. Over the years I have shared photos of the quotes I have printed on beautiful notecards. I keep journals with inspirational sayings on the covers. I place them on sticky notes so I can display them throughout my home.
The words of others have helped mold me and sustain me. It’s why I find it so important to read the work of great writers and study the craft of writing so that my words, when added to my novel, can one day bring comfort, hope and inspiration to others. After all, haven’t we all had moments or stages in life we wish we could press rewind on and make some changes?
“Nothing is a waste of time if you learn something from it.”
This may have been fortune cookie wisdom, but in the moment, it was just what I needed. No, it didn’t bring me a financial fortune but over the years, it has truly been worth its weight in gold.
“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.”
At a time where everything on social media tends to emphasize a “perfect life,” this is a quote that more and more of us should stop from time to time and read again … slowly.
“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” In fact, sometimes, the most beautiful moments in life come from unexpected, imperfect events. Let’s face it, no matter how much we plan, or strive for perfection, life is going to present us all with imperfect moments. The key is to break out the fortune cookie wisdom and embrace that gift of the imperfect moment.
“What is it you plan to do with your wild & precious life?”
I bought the colorful journal with this inspirational quote several years back. As I began to map out my plan back then, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined the incredible place that life has now taken me. This is something we all should keep in mind. Yes, we can plan, and map out our “Vivid Vision,” but we also must remember that when we place our “wild & precious life” in the hands of the one who made us, He may take us on a beautiful adventure we might never have imagined.
Letting go of our little ones, so they can now chase their wild & beautiful lives is tough for both moms and dads. As I walk through these uncharted territories, I am using this time to help me get ready for whatever new adventures and opportunities come my way.
No, I am not a fan of change, but it is only when we embrace change that we grow and become all we were meant to be.
Until next time, may you embrace your wild & precious life!
