This month, The Salon Pineville is excited to welcome back a previous employee to their fold, Ashley Sonner. Many of you may know her as she was raised in Tioga. I was able to spend some time with Ashley recently, and here’s what we talked about.
Hi, Ashley. I’d like to welcome you back to The Salon. Could you please tell me when you first realized you wanted to do hair?
ASHLEY: As a child, my hair was always long and very curly, a bit unruly. My mom honestly wasn’t always sure what to do with it, so somewhere around junior high, I began to work with it and found I had a real flair for it.
Did you go into the beauty profession right away after high school?
ASHLEY: No, actually I attended college for about a year and considered pursuing a nursing career. But, I just never let my love for hair get far from my mind.
When did you decide to become a stylist?
ASHLEY: After a year of college, I decided to follow my heart and go to Beauty School, after all, it was where I belonged. After graduating from there, I came to The Salon Pineville where I spent 5 wonderful years with Lynn and the team.
I know they were sorry to see you go. What was the reason you left?
ASHLEY: Due to family illness, I was a care provider, and I had to take another position that was conducive to my family role.
So, now that you are ready to pick up where you left off, tell us how you feel being back at The Salon?
ASHLEY: It’s just like coming home again. I’ve always known that I was supposed to do hair, and this is where I should be doing it! It’s like a breath of fresh air. Lynn and all the other stylists are like family. We are a team, we are friends, and we work together in a unifying environment that is the best!
Although I’m sure you are fantastic at any of the topnotch services The Salon Pineville offers, is there any one of those you’d like to mention?
ASHLEY: Well, yes, you’re right, I love bright fashion colors, updos, haircuts … all of them … but I must admit I have a passion for curly hair … and lots of experience doing it :)!
