I had the privilege of attending Cindy Seaton Dance Academy’s Competition Team Showcase, The Distinction, at Coughlin-Saunders this past May. I loved the colorful costumes and spectacular dancing so it was no surprise to discover that 9 of these numbers were invited to compete at Platinum National Dance Competition’s Ultimate Invitational in St. Louis.
They killed it!
Four solos, one duet, and four group numbers had qualified by scoring a Platinum Plus or being one of the top 10 highest scoring routines from all over the country.
Kameron Hunter, Paislee Watts, and Caris Clement were chosen to compete for Artist of the Year.
Other dancers who traveled to St. Louis and racked up major awards were Kennedy Johnson, Sanaa Simmons, Annalise Thiels, Allie McCoy, Olivia Beaman, Annalynn Debusk and Kylie Dupree.
“I was Here” received a Platinum Plus and made the Gala, receiving a special judges and a choreography award. “Hourglass” received Platinum Award and “So Chic”
received Platinum Plus and was 2nd overall.
“Butterfly” and “The Face” both received Platinum, with the latter being named Champion of their category. One of the group numbers featured in my previous number, “N’ insiste Pas” earned a Platinum Plus and was the 1st place Overall National Champ.
