A PLACE WITH A BIG HEART, EVERGREEN LIFE SERVICES

Brought To You By Evergreen Life Services; Written By Meagan Henry

A room filled with giggles, wide eyes, and eager listeners set the stage for story time.

When representatives from Evergreen Life Services visited the Grant Parish Head Start Program to celebrate Read Across America Day 2026, Brittni, an individual with an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD) who lives in a community home in Central Louisiana alongside her peers, brought each story to life, turning every page into a memorable adventure for the children.

Active in her community, Brittni captivated the room with animated voices, big smiles, and plenty of excitement, keeping the attention of every child.

As pages turned, she shared powerful words like “unity” and “mindful,” transforming a simple reading session into a fun and meaningful journey. The room buzzed with curiosity as young learners followed along and let their imaginations run wild.

Celebrated each year on March 2, Read Across America Day emphasizes the importance of early childhood reading, helping children build language skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

For Evergreen Life Services in Central Louisiana, moments like this reflect a larger mission. Through community-based programs and life skills training, Evergreen supports individuals with I/DD, empowering them to live fully and engage in their communities. This day was a perfect example: Brittni didn’t just read a story, she became part of one. By giving back in Grant Parish, she demonstrated that individuals served by Evergreen Life Services are not just supported, they are leaders, role models, and active members of their communities.
