Love the idea of a book club but not crazy about the book selection? Want the camaraderie of fellow readers without feeling like you need to come up with meaningful contributions to the conversation?
Westside Library has you covered. Introducing Silent Book Club, where you join fellow book lovers to read in silence, indulge in some snacks, and enjoy a cozy atmosphere.
Grace Colson shares, “We wanted to create a space for people to come and read comfortably.”
The Silent Book Club meets on the second Tuesday every other month from 1:30–4:30. The next meeting is March 10.
“Patrons can come and go as they please during this three-hour reading marathon. All are welcome. You just bring a book and make yourself at home,” Colson continues.
My mom and I stopped by in January, the frigid outdoor temperatures making the warmth of the library even more inviting. Complimentary coffee and water were available, along with an assortment of snacks.
For readers who love the company of fellow book lovers without the homework, Silent Book Club might be the perfect fit.
Westside Regional Library is located at 5416 Provine Place, Alexandria.
