FAITH UNFADED: FALLING APART … OR FALLING INTO PLACE?

By Jeanni Ritchie

There’s one line in Casting Crowns’ song ‘Just Be Held’ that cuts through all the noise and into the very heart of my being…

Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place …

How many times do we accuse the devil of destroying our lives when actually it is God making things right?

I began suspecting midway through what I call my tornado year that the Lord just might have been orchestrating the chaos in order to set me free from decades of bondage. I wasn’t sure- it sure seemed like Satan was hellbent on destroying me- but there was a glimmer of hope in what seemed like nothing but tragedy.

As things fell into place, I knew with absolute certainty that the Lord was behind the dust-up. It was a little harder than it had to be but that part was on me. I was still operating in the flesh and slow to surrender.

It was also painful.

I lost half of those in my inner circle. One by one I watched them drift out my life, pointing fingers at my past mistakes while shaking their fists at the God I’d come to adore. I chose Him, they chose to walk away.

The Lord had not dictated my moves. He let me decide every step along the way. Sometimes there was no good choice and I had to make a decision and be okay with it. They almost always came with consequences. But He was there through it all. The high highs and the low lows…He never left my side.

Satan does come to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10) His favorite crime scenes are families and churches. Be vigilant and remember this is all spiritual warfare. Try not to take things personally.

But when things are completely falling apart in your life, take it very personally. Cause chances are the Lord may be putting everything back into place in a way you can’t on your own.

Remember the old Rubik’s Cube? If you were like me, you might could get one or two sides lined up but never all six at once. The only way I could restore it to factory condition was to break it apart and put it back together again.

We are all but Rubik’s Cubes in the Lord’s hands.
