The Central Louisiana Human Services District (CLHSD) participated in Red Ribbon Week 2025, joining schools, organizations, and communities nationwide in promoting substance use prevention and healthy lifestyles. Through its substance use prevention department and Caring Choices Clinics, CLHSD hosted a week full of activities, themed dress-up days, and meaningful conversations—all centered around this year’s national theme: “Life Is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free.”

The week kicked off with “Mind Games Monday,” where staff and participants exercised their minds with fun puzzles and challenges to symbolize how staying drug-free helps keep the mind sharp and strong.

On Tuesday, the team united for “Team Up Tuesday,” showing that making the right choices is easier when we work together. The message of the day encouraged collaboration and support: “Together, we can solve the challenges ahead and build a future full of health and happiness.”

Midweek energy soared with “Wild Wednesday,” celebrating confidence and living boldly—without substances. Staff embraced their wild sides, proving that fun and freedom don’t come from drugs, but from positivity and self-expression.

On Thursday, CLHSD took a trip through time for “Decades Day.” From groovy ’70s bell bottoms to neon ’80s fashion and Y2K nostalgia, the office was alive with style. The day’s message—“Be Kind to Your Mind, Live Drug Free”—served as a timeless reminder that self-care and mental health are key to a healthy, substance-free life.

The celebration wrapped up on Friday with a festive Halloween Costume Day, bringing laughter, connection, and a sense of community to close out the week.

“Red Ribbon Week is always an opportunity to remind ourselves and our community that prevention starts with awareness, education, and support,” said a Cheryl Dubois, Prevention Supervisor. “We’re proud to celebrate living drug-free and to encourage others to make positive, healthy choices every day.”

CLHSD’s Red Ribbon Week festivities showcased the organization’s ongoing commitment to prevention and recovery across Central Louisiana. Through programs like LifeSkills and Kid’s Don’t Gamble in schools to treatment at Caring Choices, the district continues to provide essential resources for individuals and families impacted by substance use.
