Lagniappe Theatre presents Always…Patsy Cline at the Lagniappe Event Center February 5-8.
Based on a true story, this touching production is centered around the unique friendship between Patsy Cline (Karen Schexnayder) and her devoted fan, Louise Seger (Virginia Tudor). Featuring over 20 of Patsy’s greatest hits, including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight,” the show is a joyful journey through her timeless music.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Patsy Cline Museum in Nashville the week before it permanently closed to make room for the Johnny Cash museum expansion. There had been hope the collection might relocate to the Musicians Hall of Fame, as Glen Campbell’s exhibit did after the museum closed, but there are currently no plans to rehouse the collection lovingly curated by Patsy’s daughter, Julie Fudge.
We may not have access to the memorabilia, but we will never lose the music. The two-woman show is accompanied by a stellar band:
Piano – Michael Rorex
Guitar – Ron Burns
Bass – Christian Gaudet
Fiddle – Grant Blakeney
Steel Guitar – James McCann
Drums – Kenny Brady
Complete with down home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, this show features Patsy and her music like never before.
Lagniappe audiences will also enjoy seeing Karen Schexnayder in a new role. Best known as the guiding force behind the scenes alongside her husband Ross, Karen steps into the spotlight for this production — a meaningful shift that adds an extra layer of heart to the show.
