MAKE IT CLEAR: SPEAKING WITH POWER AND PURPOSE

By Pastor James Greer

Too many believers stay silent—not because they don’t love Jesus, but because they’re unsure how to share Him. The truth is, people all around us are desperate for hope. We just need to pray for the opportunity, be alert, and speak with clarity and grace when God opens the door.

“Pray that I will make the message as clear as possible.” — Colossians 4:4 (CEV)

  1. Be Devoted and Alert in Prayer

Prayer isn’t just talking to God—it’s training your spirit to notice what He’s doing around you.

“Never give up praying. And when you pray, keep alert and be thankful.” — Colossians 4:2 (CEV)

When you’re persistent in prayer, you become sensitive to God’s promptings. You start to see people not as interruptions but as divine appointments. Don’t just pray for comfort—pray for awareness and courage.

  1. Pray for Open Doors and Clear Words

Paul was in chains when he asked the church to pray that he would speak the message clearly. That’s powerful. Even in difficulty, he didn’t want to miss the opportunity.

“God opens the door. Prayer helps us see it. Boldness helps us walk through it.”

Pray like this:
“God, open a door today—and help me speak clearly when You do.”

  1. Live Wisely With Outsiders

Your witness isn’t limited to your words. How you live, work, and treat people speaks volumes.

“When you are with unbelievers, always make good use of the time.” — Colossians 4:5 (CEV)

Sometimes we miss the opportunity because we’re distracted. Other times, we waste it with careless words or passive attitudes. Ask God to help you recognize the moment—and seize it.

  1. Speak with Grace and Interest

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to speak for Jesus—you just need to be gracious, real, and engaging.

“Let your speech always be with grace… so that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” — Colossians 4:6 (NKJV)

It’s not just what you say—but how you say it. Speak life, not lectures. Be kind. Be interesting. And don’t forget—Jesus is attractive when we don’t get in the way.

Final Encouragement:

Don’t overcomplicate your witness. Ask God for clarity. Stay alert. And when the moment comes, speak up with love and confidence. You never know how one conversation can change someone’s eternity.

Let’s make it clear: Jesus is the hope the world needs—and we’re the ones He chose to share it.
