Let’s get into the fantastic early morning dining experience I had at Mickey’s Red Kettle.
As soon as I stepped into the refreshed space, it felt warm and inviting, kind of like walking into your grandparents’ house with the smell of fresh coffee brewing and breakfast cooking.
The menu was a delightful surprise, featuring a unique mix of Southern comfort food and innovative twists. Without hesitation, I tried the hyped up Swamp Dog Hot Dog with Crawfish Queso. And let me tell you, it was a taste sensation like no other! The perfectly grilled jalapeño cheddar sausage combined with the creamy, flavorful crawfish queso, that you can only get at Mickey’s Red Kettle, was a match made in hot dog heaven. Each bite was bursting with rich flavors that I can still savor in my memory. *mmmmm, smacks lips*
Next up were the Hash Browns with Eggs and Bacon, and they were simply mouthwatering! The crispy hash browns were cooked to perfection, and the eggs were fluffy and light, while the bacon added a delightful smoky touch. It was the ideal breakfast comfort food, but I wouldn’t hesitate to enjoy it any time of the day.
As if that wasn’t enough, I couldn’t resist trying the Pepper Jack Cheeseburger, and it turned out to be a burger lover’s dream come true! The juicy patty was perfectly seasoned, and the melting pepper jack cheese added a delightful kick that elevated the burger.
Eating out doesn’t always have to be pretentious. I enjoy a plate or two of good ol’ down home cooking, and at Mickey’s Red Kettle, they get it right. After 35 years the Red Kettle is under new management with a fresh new approach to down home dining in CenLa.
A visit to Mickey’s Red Kettle is sure to bring you back for seconds. Whether it’s breakfast or lunch, Tyler Pitka and crew are serving up the kind of home cooking that sticks to the bone.
