Meet Connor.
On September 7, 2021, Connor Warren began a life-changing journey after coming to live in the Deer Creek Community Home operated by Evergreen Life Services.
Connor struggled with his weight and poor eating habits. He weighed 360 pounds and spent most of his time playing video games and watching television. His father was worried about his overall health and dreamed of a way he could learn the importance of nutrition while reducing his weight. Connor’s father shared his concern with the dedicated staff at Evergreen, and the journey began.
With the support of his family and Evergreen staff, Connor is learning to cook healthy meals and the importance of portion control. He also started walking one mile twice a day. Connor has now lost 112 pounds in the last ten months and, as a result, has dramatically reduced his risk of underlying health issues.
At Evergreen, we strive to create the highest quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the communities we serve. Many individuals with disabilities suffer from a higher risk of health complications. By addressing health risks, each individual will be more likely to participate in community activities, find a job, and live at the highest level of independence they can attain.
