MAPS AND MIRACLES …

by Pauline Reneaux

In January I wrote about finding the Vivid Vision for your life and going on the daring adventures you always dreamed of, but never in my wildest dreams did I know what that was going to look like in my own life.

I love vintage maps and globes, so I tend to incorporate them into my décor. Isn’t it funny how the things that we once used in school, and to maneuver the highways and byways are now considered “vintage?” Maybe I love these things because they take me back to my youth, or maybe it was the thrill of trying to get from point A to point B using our own navigational skills that made trips exciting.

My love of maps is what led me to a beautiful miracle. I couldn’t wait to share this, because I have been told a time or two that most people don’t notice the tiny details of life, but I can’t imagine not noticing them.

At the start of every year I always like to choose a word, a theme and a Bible verse to frame my year. In 2020, as I have mentioned before, my verse was Jabez’s prayer.

“Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” ~ 1 Chronicles 4:10

It’s funny how God’s timing is often so different from our own, because it wasn’t until Jan 13, 2021 that I saw that this simple prayer was being manifested in my life. An exciting new career opportunity would give me the chance to walk this out in my life. While definitely a long awaited prayer being answered, this isn’t where the miracle comes in.

It seemed only appropriate that if this new position was going to “enlarge my territory” maps should be included in the decor. So the excitement of preparing for this new career, and wonderful adventure began.

I decided I wanted an accent chair for my new office, but if you have done any furniture shopping lately, these can be quite pricey. When one is a creative, finding treasures isn’t a hobby, it’s what we were born to do. So I would watch for sales and deals, cruising Facebook Marketplace to see what I could find. Then one evening a beautiful chair appeared, and not just any chair, but one whose cushion was made of fabric that looked like a map.

Fortunately for me, my boys are used to my adventurous treasure hunts, so off we went.

I had done my homework, and knew that the lady selling the share had some friends and interests in common with me. When she greeted us, and I asked if she attended the women’s group at my church, she couldn’t believe it. You see she had just prayed two weeks prior for God to send someone in her life that could help her get the materials she needed to participate in the women’s study.

Life had kept her from attending in person, so she had been watching online. I knew immediately, this was no accident. This was God using the map, in the form of a chair cushion, to allow me to answer her prayer.

Life is a journey. We often can’t see where the map leads, but every once in a while we have the joy of experiencing precious moments like these, when we can see His Divine alignment. It was such a blessing to be able to help her, and it also affirmed that my new career is going to allow me to have such a big impact on others.

As I travel through life, it will be exciting to see what roads He will lead me down next. I look forward to sharing my exciting journey with you.

Until next month…
Blessings, Pauline
