FIERY CRAB ~ A REVIEW

Brought To You By Ronny Green

As we sit with eager anticipation for another crawfish season to officially begin, I thought it would be a good idea to do a little recon to see who in CenLA has the most flavorful seafood boil. We have the privilege of living in Louisiana where the seafood offerings are plentiful. However, with the abundance of restaurant options in our area, it can be difficult to know who’s a contender and who’s a pretender. I had to put my bib on and dive head (or tail) first into all the juicy, seasoned, garlicky, buttery, lips burning, finger licking goodness over at Fiery Crab.

We kicked this party off with appetizers. And only because Laura, the fearless leader of this Fiery Crab Krewe since 2021, was such a gracious host I stepped completely out of my culinary comfort zone and tried frog legs for the first time. I’m always skeptical when people say “they taste like chicken.” I was, however, pleasantly surprised at how much they actually tasted like some of the crispiest, crunchiest chicken I have ever tasted. Throw an order of handmade crab rangoons and another round of drinks in the mix, and little shindig is on and poppin’.

Alas, the piece de resistance: the lobster tail platter. This steaming mountain of goodnessincludes snow crabs, blue crabs, lobster tail, over a pound of shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage all swimming in the fiery special sauce. Me being the crab leg lover that I am, I automatically tackle a cluster of crab legs. The fiery cajun butter made the perfect dipping companion each time I cracked open a crab or peeled a shrimp. You can alway tell the food is good when the table is quiet. With our mouths full, we could only nod to the friendly waitstaff indicating that everything was all good. Chef’s kiss.

Fiery Crab Day is on the 23rd of each month. The concept is simple: show up at Fiery Crab, 2421 S. MacArthur Dr., rocking your so fresh and so clean Fiery Crab t-shirt, buy one seafood platter and get another one absolutely free. At Fiery Crab, the seafood is sourced from local seafood vendors such as Bernard’s in Cottonport and T Boogies in Pineville ensuring you’re getting the best quality crawfish, crabs, shrimp, and oysters.
