EDGAR HONORARY CAPTAIN AT NSU FOOTBALL GAME …

Northwestern State University continued its tradition of honoring those who served in the nation’s Armed Forces by recognizing a veteran during each home football game this season.  Chief Warrant Officer Four Brandon Edgar (U.S. Army Retired) was recognized during a November Demons’ game, which was also Military Appreciation Day on campus. 

Having served the nation over 24 years in the Air Force, Texas Air National Guard and active duty Army as an aviator, Edgar retired from military service in December 2019.  He recently joined NSU’s ROTC cadre as the military science instructor and assistant recruiter.   

Edgar’s military schooling includes Aviation Safety and Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones) Master Trainer.  His combat experience spans over four years and eight months:  Saudi Arabia, 1997; Kuwait, 1998; Iraq, 2007, and 3 years in Afghanistan, 2010, 2012 and 2016.  He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), Army Commendation Medal w/3 OLC and the Army Achievement Medal w/1 OLC. 

Chief Edgar hails from Beaumont, Texas.  He was joined by his wife, Dr. Grace Edgar, assistant professor of musical theater, and their two young sons Maverick and Garrison.
