There is nothing better than tossing a blanket out on the Kent Plantation House lawn at dusk and taking in the spooky décor with friends and family as you anticipate an exciting night of ghostly tales and ghoulish fun. To many of us, the annual Tales Along the Bayou storytelling event is a promise. It’s a promise of celebrating local tradition, time spent enjoying family, friends and neighbors, and let’s all admit … the cooler weather to come.
Tales Along the Bayou won’t be held on the Kent Plantation House grounds this year, but we promise it will still be a celebration! The Rapides Parish Library invites you to pick up a Tales Treat Pack on October 29th or 30th . Then, get ready to be scared right out of your socks from the comfort of home on October 30, 2020 at 6:00 pm! You may attend Tales Along the Bayou by visiting the Library’s YouTubeChannel ( https://www.youtube.com/
Snuggle up with your favorite people, nibble on the perfect snacks, and enjoy one of the world’s oldest traditions, storytelling! The event will kick-off with musical entertainment from internationally recognized and multi-award winning performer, Judy Caplan Ginsburgh. A younger crowd will then enjoy spooky stories told by Alexandria’s own master storyteller, Sylvia Yancy Davis. During the intermission, run to get some more hot chocolate because Mike Anderson, one of the most versatile folk entertainers in the United States, will be weaving a web of scary tales that are perfect for older kids and the young at heart … they are sure to send a shiver down your spine!
Now, about those perfect snacks … pick up your treat pack from your local branch on October 29th or 30th (quantities are limited and only one pack per family please)-or-if an autumnal feast is what you crave, head on over to RPL’s online catalog ( https://rpl.overdrive.com/ ) to find cookbooks and e-cookbooks that will help you round up a few new fall recipes.
