“For the Love of Books” is an exhibit presented by the Contemporary Fiber Artists of Louisiana (CFAL) that has been traveling to various library systems throughout the state and has finally come to Rapides Parish at Westside Regional Library for the months of November and December.
Artists have combined their love of literature and love of fiber arts to provide creative literary-based works that encourage our community to reflect on how books imbue our lives. Visually stunning interpretations of literature in this exhibit include “The Magic Swamp”, “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Out of Africa,” “To Kill a Mockingbird” and more. The works of art are displayed throughout the shelving units at Westside Regional Library, lending further beauty and meaning to the stacks of books that live here.
CFAL artists used artistic techniques such as quilting, embroidery, surface embellishments and weaving to explore the influence of literature in a contemporary way. The works may be viewed during regular library hours on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm and on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
