With a growing enrollment and ever-changing workforce needs, LSUA is constantly expanding its academic programs to meet the needs of today’s students and the community at large. In the past year alone, LSUA has not only increased its number of academic departments, but also added several in-demand academic programs to meet these needs.
One of the most recent additions at LSUA is the development of a new accounting program. Students can now earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree in both a traditional and 100 percent online format. The degree equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for the successful completion of the CPA exam and entry into a number of fields, including public accounting, industry, governmental or non-profit employment. This degree was developed in tandem with the Central Louisiana business community based on studies that show the region needs approximately twice as many accountants than are currently employed.
LSUA has also recently added a concentration in international business within the Department of Business Administration in order to meet the needs of an ever shrinking and connected world. The degree equips students for jobs such as export/import compliance, international finance and marketing, and transportation and logistics. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to work for a number of governmental entities or private companies in the United States and abroad.
One of the most popular programs at LSUA is the kinesiology program. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers students a comprehensive foundation in kinesiology and the opportunity to concentrate in three specialty areas including health and physical education, sports management and administration, and health and fitness studies.
LSUA also recently added the Department of Psychology and the Department of Criminal Justice. While these two fields had been individual programs before, the popularity of each demanded that they be developed into their own departments. Students who are earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice will find themselves immersed in experiential learning activities, field trips, and hand-on projects to fully prepare themselves for their chosen career. Our CJ graduates have gone on to work for the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS), Interpol, U.S. Secret Service, and numerous state police agencies.
Those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree will gain the expertise necessary to study a variety of subjects including mental and emotional health and human and animal behavior. Many students choose to continue their education with a graduate degree while others choose to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation.
