September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and Rapides Parish Library (RPL) is inviting the community to discover just how much is possible with one small library card.
This year’s theme, “I CAN…”, celebrates the many ways an RPL card helps people of all ages learn, explore, connect, create, and experience something new. A Rapides Parish Library card is free, and so are the many library resources and services available with it.
With my free RPL card, I CAN…
• Download e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and other digital resources for free.
• Get homework help, tutoring, and educational tools.
• Explore research databases and reliable information for school, work, and lifelong learning.
• Visit participating museums and attractions through Check Out Louisiana Museums.
• Discover the outdoors with the Check Out LA State Parks program.
• Discover technology and STEM resources.
• Attend free programs, classes, workshops, and activities for children, teens, adults, and families.
• Connect with art, culture, local resources, and my community.
• Access library resources from home on a computer or mobile device.
• And, of course, discover my next great read.
Whether you’re helping a child with homework, learning a new skill, planning a family outing, researching a topic, or downloading your next audiobook, your RPL card connects you to valuable resources at no cost to you.
And during Library Card Sign-Up Month, there’s an extra reason to get your first card! From September 1–30, when you sign up for a FREE RPL card you will receive a special welcome package featuring a free canvas tote, special-edition library card, bookmarks, and stickers.
The giveaways are just the beginning. Your new card opens the door to books, digital resources, educational tools, experiences, technology, programs, and so much more. One free card means countless opportunities to learn, explore, create, and connect.
Already have an RPL card but want the new design? During September, cardholders can swap their current card for the special-edition card, featuring the Red River at dusk in vibrant shades of RPL blue. Just keep in mind that switching cards will change your library card number.
