It’s a cold, rainy, gloomy day outside, however, inside Gator’s, the atmosphere is more vibrant and upbeat. I’ve made a detour into the newly remodeled, recently reopened, restaurant/bar for lunch today. Since this is my first time visiting, I’m eager to taste the offerings.
A bubbly personality greets me from behind the bar with a recommendation for one of their big burgers and asks what I will be having to drink this afternoon. Ever the day drinker, I ask for a margarita on the rocks, and as I look over the menu, the fried pickles and the coma burger grab my attention. Shannon Gentry is the owner, operator, bartender, and all around purveyor of Good Vibes at Gator’s, and she informs me that these aren’t your average, run of the mill, fried pickles! None of that frozen prepackaged nonsense, the batter on these bad boys is made fresh in the kitchen. In between me completely demolishing the fried pickles, a steaming mountain of beef, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, topped with an over-easy egg are presented in front of me, along with crinkle cut fries … my favorite of all cuts of fries. Under normal circumstances, I’m a bacon double cheeseburger kind of guy, however, after cutting this behemoth in half, I think it would be a heavyweight showdown between myself and a double version of the coma burger. Yummm!
With the reopening of Gator’s, Shannon is making sure she and her staff give the people of Pineville exactly what they want: good food, good drinks, live music and a great atmosphere to satisfy your lunch or late evening cravings.
