It’s tempting to build an Elsa-style wall of ice around your heart, especially when you’ve been hurt.
It’s self-preservation and it’s one of those ways that seems right unto man. (Proverbs 14:12)
Those are the ways that lead to death…
The Lord never put ice in anyone, He put fire in them. (Jeremiah 20:9)
You must remain on constant guard to winterproof your heart from hurt, grief, and anger. You must continually thaw the coldness that sets in when things go wrong. You think you are protecting yourself as you build walls but you are actually building your own prison.
Turn the other cheek, love, forgive…Jesus doesn’t tell you to do these things because He loves your neighbor.
He tells you to do these things because He loves YOU.
