“Sharing is Caring … food makes people happy”
“Sharing is caring, food makes people happy” … Chef Jennifer James’ remarks, as I drop my knife and fork and take a moment to pause and appreciate the tapestry of flavors dancing around my taste buds.
I could have stopped with the salad and would have written about the goodness that is the sweet banana pepper vinaigrette but Chef James assured me she had more authentic, made from scratch deliciousness to serve up. Now sitting in front of me is a Broken Wheel signature appetizer, two pecan panco crusted crab cakes on a bed of Louisiana crawfish cream sauce. As you can tell from the pictures, there is more crab meat than breading. Cheers to more crab meat! My entree was a gorgeous presentation of cane syrup glazed tuna, with pecan panco crusted shrimp served with asparagus. Don’t cheat yourself, try the tuna medium rare, it’s legit. Owner Jonathan Knoll served as my tour guide, so to speak, as we traveled through the Broken Wheel’s menu and seven barrel electric brewing system. He’s proud to be the only brew pub in Cenla “pairing good food with a variety of delicious craft beers.”
The atmosphere is laid back enough to enjoy a round of beer flights at the bar with your pals, while the woodwork throughout the interior of the restaurant creates a warm and inviting setting perfect for a glass of wine and good conversation. If you’re like me and prefer to laissez les bons temps rouler a little harder, you can watch the Saints make their way through the playoffs Sundays on the patio for Food Truck Sundays.
